Court Clerk Office Hours: Wednesdays, 5-7pm
To reach the Court Clerk, please call (518) 329-6512 ext. 211.   Outside of office hours, please leave a message and your call will be returned.

Court Hours: Vehicle and Traffic cases and criminal matters are heard on the fourth Wednesday of every month starting at 6 pm. Requests for adjournment made less than 7 days in advance of a scheduled court date will be granted only in cases of extreme hardship.

All in-person court matters will be conducted in accordance with recommended Covid safety protocols as determined by the NYS Office of Court Administration. Masks must be worn in the courtroom.

If you have received a traffic ticket, please sign the appropriate plea section on the right hand side of the ticket and MAIL it back to the Court by the return date indicated near the bottom left side of your ticket. This date is NOT a court date.

If you have entered a NOT GUILTY plea, the Court will notify you by mail of your court date and the options available to you to reach a just disposition of the matter. You MAY choose to initiate plea negotiations with the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office by mail at:

If you have entered a GUILTY plea to the original traffic charge, or submitted a negotiated plea agreement to the Court, the Court will inform you by letter as to the fine imposed unless you state that you wish to appear in person for sentencing. If so, the court will notify you of your appearance date, at which time you or your counsel may make any arguments relevant to sentencing. Please note that when you plead guilty to the charge stated on your ticket, the Court cannot reduce your charge or any possible points associated with it.
