The Ancram Town News is now sent by mail to all Ancram residents who have an Ancram zip code. The method used is EDDM (Every Door Direct Mail) which means it is delivered to everyone in the zip code area without having to be specifically addressed. It is also sent to Ancram residents with a Millerton or Pine Plains address if we have your mailing address. If you live in Ancram but receive your mail in a town other than Ancram and do not receive this issue of the Town News, it means we do not have an address for you. Legal Notice of Public Hearing on Budget Notice is hereby given, that the Proposed Budget of the Ancram Fire District of the Town of Ancram, New York, will be presented to the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Ancram Fire District, for its consideration. A Public Hearing will be held at 6:30pm at the Commissioners Office, Ancram Fire House, 1306 County Route 7, Ancram NY 12502 on October 20, 2026 (the Budget Hearing must be held annually on the third Tuesday in October.) Pursuant to Town Law 181.3 (a), the Board of Fire Commissioners must hold a public hearing on the budget, make the proposed budget available to the public prior to the public hearing, allow the public to comment on the budget at the public hearing. This public hearing must be held to allow maximum public participation in the hearing. The purpose of the public hearing is to allow any person to be heard in favor of or against the proposed budget as it is submitted, or for or against any items contained in the proposed budget, and hearing all persons interested in the subject concerning the same. That a copy of the proposed budget is available at the Office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Ancram Town Hall 1416 County Route 7, Ancram, NY 12502 and Fire District secretary at the Ancram Fire House 1306 County Route 7 Ancram, NY 12502, where it may be inspected by any interested person during office hours. NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTIONANCRAM FIRE DISTRICT, IN THETOWN OF ANCRAM,COLUMBIA COUNTY, NEW YORKSeptember 7th, 2026NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to the resolution duly adopted on August 21, 2026 by the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Ancram Fire District, in the Town of Ancram, Columbia County, New York, a Special Election of the qualified voters of said Fire District, will be held on September 22, 2026, at 6:00 P.M., and the polls shall remain open until 9:00 P.M., or as much longer as may be necessary to enable the voters then present to cast their votes. The voting shall be at the fire house located at 1306 County Route 7, Ancram, New York.The voting shall be upon the following Proposition:PROPOSITIONSHALL the Resolution of Ancram Fire District, in the Town of Ancram, New York, entitled: “A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $585,000.00 SERIAL BONDS OF THE ANCRAM FIRE DISTRICT, COLUMBIA COUNTY, NEW YORK, PURSUANT TO THE NEW YORK LOCAL FINANCE LAW TO PAY THE COST OF PURCHASING A NEW DARLEY TACTICAL PUMPER CV 515 WITH A 400 GALLON TANK,” be approved?All residents of the Fire District who were duly registered with the Columbia County Board of Elections, or who have otherwise registered as eligible registered Fire District voters, and who have resided in the Fire District for a period of at least thirty (30) days immediately preceding the date of the Special Election, shall be eligible to vote at said Special Election.BY ORDER OF THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERSDATED: August 21, 2026 THOMAS DIAS FIRE DISTRICT SECRETARY
